Greetings to all my learners
Greetings to all my achievers
Ladies and gentlemen it gives me great pleasure to be part of this event yet again this year.
We are here today to honour and congratulate the top 30 best achieving matriculants of Emnambithi/Ladysmith. These matriculants seated here today have made us proud.
I want to mention that even though the pass rate in the KZN province dropped this year and some schools were involved in cheating scandals, the fact that some of you are seated here today means that we have strived and persevered through all that.
With assistance from the department of education, the Emnambithi/Ladysmith municipality`s youth office has initiated that we honour all of you in the great work you have done during your matric year. You must all remember that today is not just about the school year of 2014, it`s about the past 12 years that you have spent in school.
Let us not also forget that as we honour our matrics today, we should pay much needed tribute and appreciation to the educators and principals as well.
In a child`s school life there are three important figures, the teacher, the principal and the parent at home. So thank you to all the parents as well for raising these high achievers.
Today, as you receive your certificates, you will hold in your hands the key to the door of your future professional success.
In motivating you to achieve the best results in your future endeavours, I want to say firstly that I am proud of you. And on behalf of the Emnambithi/Ladysmith Municipality I want to say well done. I want all of you to go out there and start building your future.
And when you have completed your studies, remember to come back home and help others to achieve the success that you have. We believe there is no greater way of acknowledging the freedom we now enjoy, than to honour those who have gone before us by building on the legacy they have bestowed
In closure, I would once again like to congratulate you all, and wish you the ultimate success
I thank you Emnambithi/Ladysmith Mayor
Cllr MV Madlala
