Dance sport in Ladysmith

30 March 2015

The Emnambithi/Ladysmith Municipality sports section and the UThukela FEDANSA hosted a developmental dance competition under the Human rights dance festival.

The event took place at the Town Hall on 28 March where ballroom and Latin American dancers gathered in numbers to compete in the sport.

Before the competition had begun, there were developmental phases were dancers were taught and expertly trained in the different dances as well as knowing and mastering the techniques on the different levels.

Dance sport is one of the sports that is recognised and the Emnambithi/Ladysmith Municipality has sponsored a floating trophy where schools are encouraged to be part of dance. The school that got the trophy was Mnambithi Primary school. This school and the principal has constantly been supportive of the dance sport and a majority of young and enthusiastic dancers are from the school.
